Greetings from chilly Maumee!
I don’t know about you, but I’ve spent the majority of my life despising winter, particularly winter in January and February. 2 years ago, I arrived at the realization that winter isn’t going anywhere, and instead of fighting it, why not learn to embrace it?
Last winter, I started with my first (and very obvious) complaint - “I’m too cold”. I invested in warm clothes, wool sweaters and socks. I (somewhat) mastered the art of building a perfect fire, and I now make a conscious effort to nurse a hot beverage at every chance I get.
This winter season I’m addressing my second complaint - “there’s nothing to do”. While bookings are a tad slower at the inn, I’m putting pen to paper and committing to this winter agenda:
Create & play as much as possible - Vod’s Here Sewing & Craft Emporium is where I’ll start with a craft, I’m thinking the visible clothes mending workshop
Touch up paint chips on the inn’s walls using this paint pen
Make homemade valentines to mail - are you interested in receiving a handmade valentine? Email hello@thefederalbnb.com with your name and address to mail to 💌
I’ve been on a knitting kick, and I’m setting the goal to start knitting a sweater using a kit from Wool and the Gang
Pottery class for 8 weeks- first class is on Tuesday! I took my first pottery wheel class last spring, and loved it. Although, my wheel skills are very much beginner status
Assemble art piece for the lucite easel I bought at an estate sale that is in desperate need for something quirky
Start the planning process for seeds for the garden and what to snag from Toledo Grow’s Seed Swap next month
Organize library closet and hall closets
Learn how to make sourdough bread (finally) from Just Toledo’s sourdough 101 workshop
Schedule a spot in a wood shop workshop at Inspired Lumber Workshop
Did I miss anything? How are you wintering?
