It’s nearly May. Bookings are picking up and a growing list of to-do’s is in full swing. This time of year always feels like waiting for an avocado to ripen. Wait wait wait wait…ok now! Go go go!
The trees and better yet- the lilacs are in full bloom here in sweet lil Maumee. I’ve heard Maumee to be known as the “Lilac City” decades ago, for the fact that lilacs are on every corner. I’ve not been able to find any data to support this, other than my own observations that there are indeed, lilacs on *almost* every corner.
While working on some more of the boring/behind the scenes/administrative duties of the inn, I’ve been balancing it out with enjoying the little joys. Drinking green earl grey tea with my friend Jen in her adorable kitchen as we eat her homemade bread with jam. Seeing friends from high school perform in the community theater production of “Natasha, Pierre, and The Great Comet of 1812”. Reminiscing with college theater friends whom I haven’t seen in 12 years at the dining room table, laughing and dreaming up a fun project. Hosting other guests from Maine who were a blast to enjoy coffee with in the morning. And picking the most gorgeous tulips from my neighbor’s garden- Hi Diana!
As May is fast approaching, so is the biggest birding week for Northwest Ohio. Time to go out and start spotting warblers! Birding is easily becoming a new hobby to enjoy while walking in the metroparks and along the towpath on the Maumee River. I had some recent guests who were master birders tell me the only thing missing at the inn, is a jar of “GORP” (granola, oats, raisins and peanuts), or snacks for birders. So consider that request granted- gorp will be available for birding week! PS- I’ve got rooms at the inn available for the second weekend of birding May 10-12th, 2024.
One more piece of exciting news -I found out 2 days ago that the episode for BCAN’s Four One Nosh podcast I was in for The Federal Inn was nominated for an Emmy! Unbelievably cool. Check out the episode here!
Happy day!
PS. If you’re a paid subscriber- thanks for being here, and supporting this lil project. I appreciate you!
